ATTACK OF THE ZOMBIE BIRD

Okay this story goes as most Tyler-Fraser stories do – if you’ve missed hearing them as much as I’ve missed telling them, then saddle up kiddies.

This friggin Magpie has been hanging out, literally, underneath my car all week. Both me and my sister have seen it. Every time we drive somewhere we are both like “Where is it! Where is it!”.

FYI If you don’t live in Alberta – this is a Magpie. The craziest bird around! They are everywhere here, like the same amount of crows pigeons and seagulls anywhere else.

Finally I got home the other day and I look behind my car and there it is lying dead basically with its tongue sticking out and little X’s over its eyes – I mean it could not have been any deader. It was 100% directly behind my tire, so I obviously ran over it (BY ACCIDENT). It was inevitable that thing was stubborn.

So I go inside and all I can think about is how I’m going to get rid of it because this is a mother of a big bird here. Big ol’fatty bird. I’d need like a shovel or something.

This morning I went out to my car to go to work and the Spawn of Satan was NOT ONLY ALIVE but RIGHT UNDER MY DOOR squawking at me! Dear god! I walked around my car expecting to see old deady lying there but the bird was GONE. Seriously. That bird was dead dead dead. And yet there it was again like friggin Pet Cemetery!! I had to turn my car alarm on to get it to hop out from under my car.

There is only one possible explanation for this – the zombie apocalypse..has begun..beware of roadkill.

Weight Loss: Week 3

WEEK 3 RECAP: My goal for this week was to minimize eating out. Thursday came around though and I actually really wanted to go out and eat a good meal with my sister basically go on a date with her. Sooo we went out to this place called Milestones and it was super super gooood. We ate steak and shrimp and asparagus and lots else. Then we got ice cream on the way home. I realize eating out less shouldn't mean never ever again indulging in good fun. This all I feel was justified! As long as it doesn't happen everyday.

Friday night was the Skrillex concert: FULL FLEX EXPRESS TOUR. Basically a 7 hour long extreme workout. It. Was. Awesome. While in recovery Saturday morning we ventured to Dennys for deliciousness. And then we went to get groceries...cuz we had none.

What I learned this week: Eating out is not always bad and I shouldn't feel guilty about it every time I do indulge.

My goal for next week: Is work on my physical activity. Get to the pool and swim some laps. My back has been acting up a lot.

This week was another good week - 2lbs for a total of 4.6. Again this is slow, but that's how some weight loss goes and I'm happy it's coming off rather then staying on! Cheers until next week!

Holy - holy yum.

Oh ya, ha, we also made mimosas. Ain't no true brunch without mimosas baby.

The Walking Dead Season 3 Trailer

I'd just like to share with everyone that this is happening. The end.

I LOVE that Amy is singing to the group at the beginning. Yes, multiple times I, Tyler, have imagined myself being in those exact shoes singing and entertaining the group while you know doing chores, making dinner or washing clothes. What else would there be to do it is only logical! I squeeed when I saw it - I was like FINALLY someone is doing this.

The buggers - of course Daryl says nothing THE ENTIRE 4 MINUTES! Well he says 'Who the hell are you?' but we've all heard him say that before.

For all those who read the comics you can just imagine how different this is going to be. Talk about PG13! Hope it gets a little gory. Also I think this trailer is WAAY too long. It's not even a teaser it is monstrously long - basically it's like hey guys this is exactly what's going to happen this entire season minus the death scenes.

Other than that I AM SO FREAKIN EXCITED. WALKING DEAD YOU MAKE MY LIFE. CANNOT WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER.

The music from the trailer is also mmhmm. I spent a long time googling and even some twitter stalking to find these: (then the next day of course everyone and their dog had put them up on youtube under 'walking dead'...I have no patience)

Norman Reedus - you have my love.

Dainty Squid tribute

So there is this very popular blog that both me and my sister read along with tons of other ppl called The Dainty Squid. The lady who runs it does lots of outdoor photo-shoots. She is cool, eclectic and professional. Here's our best shot at recreating one of her photoshoot adventures.

Walking across the Walterdale bridge - 5 minutes from our apt.

The beginning of the forest path.

Into the woods, into the woods (You know like 'Into the woods, into the woods, to Grandmother's house before it's dark'. We might have been singing that.)

Gratuitous pic of someone posing on a log.

Gratuitous shot of my shoes - hola hola Nike shocks ya'll! I think I got the angle off..this does not seem hipster.

Jumping off de log - much less graceful than our blogger friend - pretty much looks like a big ol wedgy happening.

I broke my glasses - I was sweaty.

I FIX de glasses. I am still sweaty.

WHY ARE ALL THE TREES FALLEN OVER DEAD.

We found mushrooms! Brittany didn't like them so much.

This ones kinda coooool.

This car is a rust-face. Probably shouldn't be driven.

This is looking off of the earlier photographed bridge to where we live. I can see the apt building across from ours!

Me drinking from a fountain.

Me not drinking from a fountain.

What was I doing again? We sort of suck at imitations. Haha cheers foos.

Weight Loss: 2

HEYA EVERYONE here's update #2 - this weeks goal was to minimize my eating out excursions. Monday - Sunday: I went out to Wok Box at Tuesday on my own for lunch, I went out to dinner Saturday evening with some friends on their invite, had McDonalds after a grotesque amount of drinking later that night and Sunday me and my sister got rained out at volleyball so we went to see a movie and ate out at the mall. All in all I managed to keep it pretty low key every time - salad, soup and chicken. You might be thinking 'Well that's still a lot!' Ha here's what I turned down: Oodle Noodle Sunday evening, McDonalds Tuesday night, pizza and beer Wednesday night, drinking and eating out Friday night, the end. When you don't think about it this stuff really stacks up and you hardly notice. That would have been eating out almost every single day!

I found this week that I struggled with boredom. I still am getting into the swing of things here and who knows how long it will take before I make some real close friends and get back to keeping busy.

Making things a little easier? I have been looking for support online and found this little blog great. This girl is so nice and my frand on Twitter. She is a sweetie! and gives me lots of great advice and support.

This week I am going to try again to not eat out. See if I can get it down even less. I am going to make sure to prepare good lunches to keep me satisfied and just hope that dinner will come easy too. This was a good week still down 1.2lbs for a total of 2.6. Slow and steady but let's hope this keeps. Until next week - Cheers!

Soo just fyi - loosing does not equal losing.

Sylvan Lake, AB

Me and my sister geared up for the long weekend by trying to go camping. By try I mean we called 5 campgrounds and they all laughed at us. Guess we should have booked a month in advance like everyone else ha. So instead we bought some inflatables and headed to the lake for the day.

Wow was this place ever nice! It was like, the town was built specifically around this giant man made lake. Like, the entire cities budget went to making this lake and the small surrounding area beautiful. Well, SUCCESS!

We got there, scoped out a spot, applied some lotion and 15 minutes later boogied to the water with our floaties. EXCEPT THE WATER WAS EXTREMELY FREEZING. It was colder than any water I've ever swam in before. We finally got all the way in and situated in our floaties, and there we are, shivering and being like 'It's gonna get better. It's gonna get better.' Except it never did. It was even too cold to put your hands in! So we were floating there with our hands and feet held out of the water. And 20 minutes later we were back on the beach swaddled in towels.

We layed out all day, it was awesome. I got a super burn EVEN THOUGH I was constantly reapplying sunscreen. Pff SPF 30 ain't got nothin on the sun. We ate out, we bought ice cream, we walked around and toured. It was an awesome day.

Lots of tourists. Oh I guess we were too.

Crazy waterslides!

These peeps got busted for alcohol on the beach by the cops. Suckas!

Weight Loss

I have been musing over my weight loss recently, with the big move and everything I have just been feeling super unmotivated. It seems like there is always something going on, always some sort of event or trip happening where I keep saying to myself: ‘This is a special occasion! I will let myself splurge this time.’ Honestly I am a splurger, and guilty of it. If I deem the occasion worthy I will totally blow everything off and let loose my inner food beast. I don’t necessarily think this is a bad thing – I definitely don’t want to spend the rest of my life restricted to never ever eating certain foods. That would be so awful. The key for me is just to splurge moderately.

Since I am finding I have so much more time to blog these days, I’ve been thinking that blogging directly about my weekly triumphs and you know, those super depressing gaining weight happenings might be a good kick in the pants to help me get back on track with everything.

Also my Maid-of-Honor status for my best friend’s upcoming wedding is weighing heavily on my mind and is a big pusher for me. I just keep thinking, one more year, only one more year, less than one year…oh god holy crap get moving lazy face! Pretty much no matter what I do I will be larger than all the other girls in the bridal party – because well I am about a foot taller than all of them, but they are all tiny, slim ladies, so I need to work extra hard so that I will fit in with them well and have everything look perfect!

Either way I feel it’s time to get my butt motivated again, enough lazing around riding the “I just moved here…” train.

Without further ado -

This week I attempted to at least lessen the amount of poor food choices I have been making. There is a lot of eating out at our apartment and with the group of friends I am beginning to establish here. There is also a lot of drinking – and you know how it is, with drinking comes pizza and with pizza comes poutine sometimes and then even a little McDonalds if there’s any room left. There have also been a few road trips which always means eating out or eating from a restaurant. It also means eating things like giant ice cream cones and drinking beers with meals. Then there’s lunch at work. At first I wasn’t making myself lunches for work at all, and was completely relying on grabbing food at lunch like Wok Bok or KFC (any place that is close to my work really). None of this is ANY GOOD! All week I have been catching myself going, errrm do I really need this?? Even so I still ended up eating out about 4-5 times throughout the week. At this point I will point out that there were times when I was asked to get food and I managed to say no one way or another. I also refused to get ice cream at least twice and, that is not an easy thing to do when the weather is +30 degrees. I went for more walks than I usually do and I did not drink out all weekend. Still managed to get McDo Saturday night around 1am though on the way home…I AM WEAK. All in all I think it was a good first week. And you know what – it was pretty hard. I am not the type of person to say no to anything enjoyable and I said it a lot this week. Maybe not every time, but a few. I am feeling good. Overall I went down 1.4lbs so it was a good week.

This week I am going to really concentrate on not eating out at all – that means I need to make sure to make my lunches in advance for everyday and make sure to eat a good breakfast so that I don’t get cranky hungry tummy cravings. I don’t think I will drink again this weekend but I can’t promise that as I am in the works of trying to make some new friends and if they ask me around, I will be going out. So my goal this week is to just really try not to eat out or eat fast food. Let’s see how it goes!

CALGARY FIRST TIMER

A couple weekends ago me, my sister and our friend packed up our things on Friday afternoon and booked it to Calgary for a swinging weekend of drinks, music and fun!

Calgary is - beautiful. It is seemingly more like the Capitol of the Province than Edmonton since it is so nice. Not sure why it isn't! Everything is artistic and meaningful and old and inspiring. It rained the entire weekend, and it was STILL a beautiful place to be.

We got there and it was like immediate party mode: the entire weekend we ate, drank, and walked around to different music venues. Repeat. We went to metal clubs, folk, indie rock, pop dance electro and MC rappers. The entire weekend was simply awesome. I wish it hadn't been raining. Rain - it sucks!! Being wet everywhere was not so cool but it was still a great time.

I also made my VERY FIRST PURCHASE FROM CHANEL! A quad eye shadow called 'Vanites'. AWESOME!!!!

Here are a few shots of the blood -

The end.
