Top of the World (feat. Dev)

What a wonderful support system I have. I really do. I am very thankful. Any troubles seem a little lighter even just thinking about it.

“Maybe we should take a day and fall apart together. But, just one day. <3.” – TF

This weekend is going to be fantastic. I am leaving Friday morning which means I get to escape my 10hr 6 days a week work schedule 2 days early (BOOYAH). I will be bringing home fresh lobsters picked from the trap and cooked Thursday night for my family and as a bit of a late Father’s Day present. Cape Breton lobster is one of my new favorite foods. It is damn good. (Sry, you little ugly bastards!) Saturday night I am having a shared Birthday party with my friend and sorority sister Michelle and all our friends are coming up for it! Should be a blast. I get to see my best friends again. It’s been a while since we’ve all been in the same place at the same time and who knows how many times it will happen again as we continue to grow in our separate lives. Cherish the moment!

Sunday we are scheduled to go on a tube run down the nashwaak river where I plan on getting obscenely sun burned and in all likelihood plastered. Also will be my first time wearing my bathing suit outside this summer (summer doesn’t really exist in PH) and I am praying for sun sun sun.

The weekend was really wonderful. Friday night was a sort of a bust. Jordan me and Scott were playing board games, but then Jordan had to leave early and poo game night over. Saturday was better I invited all the girls over I have met in PH: Stacey, Amber and Amanda, and the four of us sat in my room drinking and talking and then forced Scott to drive us places. He was a good sport :) And still so very handsome. We had a good time driving around the girls in the back, he and myself up front. He’s also started teaching me to play video games. MLB 2006. He lets me ‘bat’ only. So far I have successfully hit 1 ball. I did good though, so he says. We made a delicious breakfast Sunday morning and laid around on the couch watching the movie Goodfellows in the afternoon. Then he had to work the night shift Sunday and he worked it last night as well which means I haven’t seen him for a bit. Sunday evening I was invited to see ‘Super 8’ with Amanda and her roommate Beth. It was pretty good. We ate Wendys and junkfood and shopped at Winners. I got this amazing footstool that matches my bedspread/room perfectly, some soap and a bookbag. Also the poor Winner’s cashier didn’t ring in my $30 bookbag, and I didn’t notice until we were 1hr30min away back in PH. Oh well, bonus!

Last night I got my arse kicked once again at the gym. Kevin has started making us do sprints and he says I’m pretty fast, which has to be one of the most hilarious things I’ve Ever heard. Tonight I have volleyball but it is also Scott’s first competitive baseball game (he tried out for the team a few weeks ago) and I would like to go cheer him on. (Also, seriously, my ass muscles hurt from yesterday. I don’t know how helpful I’d be on the court.) Jordan might come. Him and his gf just broke up Sunday night. Add that to the list of complications in my life.

I will keep you posted. Much love.

Today it is Thursday, Thursday

Well folks, let’s add this little gem to our collection:

Ya. Sweet. Found two of them scuttling innocently, trapped at the bottom of one of our larger bowls in the cupboard. Gross.

Grosser: Scott picked the bowl up looked in it, said ew, put it back on the shelf. I watched him do this not bothering to ask. I didn’t find the bugs until the next day :| Ya. Sweet.

In other news, I had my second fun filled Port Hawkesbury weekend. Friday, Scott took us to the fire hall for some pool. Saturday we drank our faces off. I have numerous purple bruises covering my arms and torso. Scott’s a biter. Guess I got off lucky, Jordon found one on his ass. We went out…to Dooley’s. Just the same there was a ton of people there. (And by ton I mean most I’ve seen so far in one place in PH other than Wal-Mart)

Bonus of being intoxicated: speaking to strangers just feels comfortable. Also, so far everyone in Port Hawkesbury has been extremely nice and welcoming. All I need to say is “I just moved here and I don’t know anyone” and they are all over you.

Also, I watched a girl fall down the stairs onto the pavement, sit up and light a cigarette. Sorta made my night.

The next day was kinda wonderful. After assembling in the living room we went to breakfast which was hangovertastic. We spent the rest of the afternoon outside on the lawn throwing various sports balls around, tanning (me) and playing board games. We went to see Bridesmaids and my abs still hurt from laughing.

This week has kinda flown by (I royally slacked on the blogger front). I finally couldn’t handle it anymore so I cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen. Looks fucking fantastic. Jamie bought me ice cream. I got books from the library (thanks for the recommendations guys!). I am starting with The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood (so far so good) and I have Oryx and Crake(?) waiting at home. THANKS FOR BEING FREE LIBRARY. YOU MAKE MY LIFE.

Last night I was awaked by a large repeated flashing light in my mirror. It was sort of terrifying. Then I realized it was reflecting my window and the crazy lightening flashing every 5 seconds over the ocean. Then the thunder started rolling in. Then my window frames started pounding from the wind. I had both open, but the lightening was so frequent and close and the thunder so quick and loud that I was afraid to go near them to close them. Finally I had to cuz it started raining: both the newer outer screen glass and the older window pane. I was awake from at least 1 to 2:30am. I don’t remember the last time I was so irrationally scared. I wanted to sprint into Scott’s bedroom and huddle under his covers and let his laughing voice reassure me…and believe me I actually would have if I hadn’t known he was working the next morning at 6am. I thought about calling my mom (I’m such a baby!) but I didn’t want to wake her up either OR freak her out. I tried moving to the couch downstairs to see if it would be quieter but it wasn’t. And all the while the storm was still raging outside. I don’t know how my roommates didn’t wake up honestly. And I don’t know how we kept power the whole time. I was clutching my iTouch waiting for the lights to go out.

The sun is out and shining now, but I can see more dark purple rain clouds in the distance. Looks like we'll be in for another fun filled evening. I think I'm going to start taking NyQuil before I go to bed.

PS: 25. Eat corn on the cob

Thought this was neat! My parents, or someone, used to tell me God was bowling.

Uh, baaaaackspaaaace!

All of the things I have to write about today are locked up in my head and don’t seem to want to come out. Whether because I am terrified of what could happen if released or whether I really believe they’re irrelevant. Only time will tell. I’ve been catching up on one of my favorite blogs Chelsea Talks Smack. I love her stuff but it always makes me very reflective and thoughtful. Sometimes too much so. Tomorrow I know I will be like, “Whaaaa was I thinking? Damn sentiment. Quit pulling my heart strings already!” Therefore to save you all from a possible word vomitorium, without further ado (and drum roll please)...

MY SUMMER GOAL LIST.

Summer goal lists are…classic. Everyone makes them and they’re always the same: full of a redonkulous amount of things that we already do every summer and are just extremely missing due to copious amounts of snow and ice and extreme sun withdrawal. Then the rest of the stuff we throw in there, the spark of our own individuality, is usually either insane, improbable, likely not going to happen or something we’ve strived towards our entire lives but haven’t got around to doing yet.

And all that doesn’t make them any less damn fun to write up. So cheers people.

Awwww ya!

Well it’s been another stunningly productive day here in my closet, I mean office. The bossman has been gone now for 2 days. He is gone for the next 3 weeks. This is going to be the longest 3 weeks ever. I have gotten as far in work as possible today but instead of being a keener and reading something which would make me smarter, I am not. I am just not in the mood this week like I was last week and the week before. I am dog tired… 2 visits to the gym after none for +6 months has taken its toll on my bod.

I am enjoying the Y however (cuz as crappy as the gym is, there is nothing else to do in Port Hawkesbury!) and last night planned on joining. Instead, ‘Kevin’ aka Gym instructor hottie! Suggested I sign up for a personal fitness class he and another trainer lead. They began this week and apparently a chick dropped out after the first day :|. Monday and Thursday for 8 weeks 6-8pm $125 will get me the class, along with a gym membership and get this, a FREE 6” sub from subway every day of the 8 weeks.

This class is supposed to be not only a wicked powerful training class but they will take time to teach us about nutritional facts and healthy diets. Kevin (he is so dreamy) looked me in the eye and told me it was a privilege that he’d asked me to join because he knew of other people who had been on a waitlist (probably lies, but he has such pretty eyes!) and that I must promise to eat well and come to the gym at least once a week apart from his class (how could I say no to him???).

Also a plus the winner (there are 5 of us) aka the person who loses the most weight/inches(?) will win a free 1 year YMCA membership, and second place will win a free 4 months (which is about as long as I will be in PH, bonus!). So now I am motivated to win, cept these other chicks have got a 4 day head start. Biatches! I am going to enjoy a final meal at some point before my weigh in from McDo and drink as much water as possible the day of so maybe I will bloat an extra few pounds, muahaha.

Oh. Ya. The class. So 30 min is dedicated to cardio. They have a separate track where we will be jogging/running and doing stairs (pictures the biggest loser workout, male and female trainers yelling encouragement at you included) 30-60min working with bands, kettle bells and weights and time for life lessons at some point I guess. I am the youngest in the group. Hope I do ok! Lol. Apparenty the last chick that won lost 22lbs. I think I can trounce her.

Wish me luck.

La Douleur Exquise!

As intolerable and annoying as my weekend began (thanks to a certain someone who couldn’t plan a decent crap to come out of his ass let alone camping trip), it turned out to be one of my favorite of the summer so far. I gleefully took Friday off of work to bring my long weekend (thank you New Brunswick Day) up to a solid 4 days. After ½ day wasted spent searching for campsites (fail) my papa suggested I ask his dad if I could set up tent by his RV on the Naswaak River. Well by golly did I ever.

But before I get to that, let me just say thank the world for this person. It is really, really great to have someone you can count on through thick and thin: Who will always listen to your pathetic tales of woe and not make you feel worse, who will be glad to throw you a pity party complete with male strippers and nintendo, who will be by your side if you ever feel the need to creep on a certain boys fb page, who will paddle upstream to rescue you when you’re stranded in a kayak and you’ve lost your paddle, and who will help you eat that pint of Ben & Jerrys (Actually that shits expensive. More like “…help you eat that mcdonalds cone..”).

*Thanks to all the ladies in my life near and far who fit this. Love love love you all.

Friday the day was spent at our favorite 1800's hangout, King's Landing! Whit and I spent the day making our way through the quaint little town. We both decided that we'd like to have been born in the past but that Whitney would marry extremely rich so that she'd never have to lift a finger and that I would likely be married to the town's store keeper and possibly own an apothecary. I took pictures of everything and the "townsfolk" just loved us! (Probably because we were neither 6 nor 75 yrs old, which seemed to be the going age for every other tourist visiting.) We had fun taking in the history, drinking in the pub (Well...drinking water. It was hot!!) and stalking the mysteriously sexy horse cart driver.

O Great Map Reader
Just call me the horse whisperer.
Holla!
Saturday was camping time! Not only did my brand new "popupable" (please see video link below) tent from Canadian Tire kick some serious ass, but my extreme camping mess turned into a beaaautiful butterfly: a surprise 2-(wo)man kayaking adventure and extremely entertaining hang out with my Grampie by the campfire. Grampie Fraser hang out time = surprisingly really fun.

Grampie and some RV action.
ALMIGHTY TENT.

Badass Golfcart.
CHEEEESE.
The Yaks.
Prob the one and only decent pic of us together. Kayaking + rapids + Vex = bad photo ops.
*I did make my own video demonstrating the awesome power of the tent, but this one is so so much better. (BTW it is totally real. I can assemble and dissemble the thing in 30 seconds flat. Pure magic. Eat that Harry Potter! Tentimus Maximus!!!)

When I finally got home Sunday I completely passed out. Woke up around dinner time with flip flops still on and dried drool on my chin. (nummmy)

Monday aka New Brunswick Day, me and the fascha took a trip to the US of A on our motorcycles. It was the most beautiful day and it was fun hanging out with my dad. We drove about 600km total and stopped about 10 times. He said we could never go anywhere for a purpose because at my stoppage rate it would take us 3 weeks to arrive.

The bikes <3
It's in the family.
Big smiles!
"How to eat my giant sandwich? Is so big!"
And mine. MONSTER CLUB.
Rest Stop in Houlton, Maine.
Today I am back at work, working hard to get everything done in time for me to leave (just 4 more weeks EEK!) And yeah, things are still complicated with what’s his name. Honestly, I don’t think I know how to function around him properly. And I don't think, in four weeks especially, I ever will. Like, the fact that I’m trying to act normal around him and treat him like I would everyone else at work is just making me act weirder towards him. I’ll never get used to the idea he’s not someone I should be treating special. It’s crazy, but I still have feelings for him and that glimmer of hope that he feels something for me forever lingers. I am totally buggered. So, depending on my mood, I find myself seesawing between writing him soppy I-miss-you emails and standoffishly ignoring him when I bump into him in the cafeteria. What must he think of me? (NUTS, BONKERS, GOOBER…) I just wanted to say goober. Can matters of the heart ever just be civilized. Stupid primal instincts/irrational hormones.

To the left, to the left.
Carry Bradshaw, you took the words right out of my mouth.
Did I ever really love Big Colin or was I addicted to the pain? The exquisite pain of wanting someone so unattainable.

Let’s end with a summer list update…

Epic NON-fail :)

Good Monday morning everyone! El weekendo certainly did the trick in getting me back to Happytylerland. Thank god for those 2 day breaks.

Friday night me and my best lady shared our troubles while downing 2L of Vex Bananatini. 3 gals came in from Bathurst and 1 from SJ to join our lil party and we all headed downtown to the local skanky classy dance club, iRock. I haven’t been there in so long, it was wonderful to just go with the girls and dance our friggin ARSES off. Oh, and getting dragged into the corner by my Latino lover wasn’t too shabby either.

:O

I mean, I did not go into the co-ed bathroom with anyone.

And by Latino lover I mean this really hot guy (through my drunk gogs anyways) who was actually from Europe. I know this because he kindly reminded me every time I referred to him as “my Mexican” or “my Latino lover”. Silly boy, he should have known that would have no impact whatsoever on what I had already decided was his name. And no, I really did not go into the co-ed bathroom with him. He sure made me laugh!
We closed the place, went out to the Diplomat (the only sit down restaurant open 24hrs) and all fell asleep at the table.

Saturday was the ALL GIRL RIVER RUN that I’d been planning for about a month, and 9 of us gals spent 5 hours tubing gracefully down the beautiful Miramichi River.

Highlights:
RIP Ritz Crackers
Nicole slow motion flipping
Being tied to two fantastic ladies
Getting the burn of the century on my thighs
…oh wait

We finished off our perfect day with dinner on the patio of our favorite restaurant Dimitris, where we ate until we could no longer function.

Sunday I was planning on going into work. Except then I looked outside and it was 30 degrees and sunny. So I went to the beach instead, HA! Laying out, swimming, laying out, Frisbee, swimming, laying out, swimming, laying out.

It’s a tough life.

Oh haha, and this morning I had quite a laugh over this:
hahahaha! and it's still making me laugh.

wishing good days to you all xo Tyler

time on earth is changing

Summer's begun. Its +30 degrees and humid every day; it’s too hot for me and it’s grossing me out. Since I've been back from Edmonton, I've been feeling tired and crappy. I’ve begun swimming with my mother everyday. I really love swimming. It feels good to be moving my forgotten muscles. And it’s nice to spend time with my mom, but oh my god does she never shut up. Literally any conversation we have she’ll interrupt and turn it into an annoying pep talk: fat is the devil, and I should constantly be moving in the water because it burns calories and floating doesn’t burn calories, Tyler you shouldn’t be eating anything other than salad and chicken because everything else is just calories and that goes for dressing too, Tyler I don’t want you to drink anymore, Tyler I’m going to guilt you into staying here for 3 hours so you can lose weight, you’ll lose some of that flab if you come here everyday, see that girl Tyler, if you do this everyday you can have a figure like her, etc etc.

It’d be worth it to lose a few pounds just to get her off my back. Thing is she’ll never stop. Even if I lost 100 lbs she would say “now if you could just lose that chub off your tummy…”

Work has become this bleak place. It used to holster something magical, unreachable, a fleeting beauty. And now it’s finally dissipated. Let’s Doctor Who metaphor this:
I’m Rose Tyler and I had a perfectly happy life before the Doctor came along. Then he swept me away into his world of adventure, time travel and infinite possibility and life became that much brighter because he was in it. Well, he’s just dropped me off back at home in London, returning me to my old, now dull-in-comparison life.
I’m really ready to move on from that place, get back into school and trudge forward into whatever’s next.

Short guy update: Gary’s msging has over the past 2 months become more and more frustrating. He used to be cute and endearing when he’d tick me off, now he just makes me feel bad. Therefore I’ve jumped off the train. Deleted (or at least name changed to Being A Loserface) from my phone. I’m not expecting anything more from him in the near future. Maybe I should have put more effort into seeing him. Or maybe I should just quit it while I’m in such a state of melancholy either way.

Anyone wanna pity party with me? I’ll bring the Ben & Jerry’s, you bring the chick flick and snuggies.

I guess it wouldn’t be right to say nothing about Eclipse, after all Twilight’s never done me wrong. So, YES I saw Eclipse. TWICE. :) And I wouldn’t mind seeing it a few more times (thank you 5.99 movies on Tuesdays, Empire Theatre). Finally, the chemistry between Bella and Edward is believable. I’m Team Jacob and therefore don’t even want them to be together, but I couldn’t help but love them in this movie. Of course, I loved Jake too. In fact I thought he was the best. His acting has improved 10 fold. Favorite scenes (SPOILER ALERT): When Jake gets hurt at the end and is lying on the ground silent screaming; when he screams later in the house when Carlisle is re-breaking his bones. (Pretty sure I was tidal wave crying at this point); when he turns around because Bella asks him to kiss her, the LOOK on his face; and finally the Bella and Edward ending. I was so happy for them I was crying tears of joy and laughing out loud as the credits rolled and Metric played from the speakers. I KNOW I AM A BIG LOSER AND I DON’T CARE. THIS SHIT MAKES ME HAPPY THEREFORE I EMBRACE IT! Lol. That is all. PS I’m totally in love with a fictional character.

Seriously, I have this overwhelming desire to man hunt a guy who looks like Jacob, will protect me like him, is tough and manly and is ruggedly good looking yet caring, sensitive and wants me to be happy. Does this man exist? Cuz I’ll pay money.

In an attempt to cheer myself up I’m posting one of those “List of Summer Goals”. Most people have been writing these up and they seem fairly happy, so what can it hurt?

So with no further adieu and in no particular order…

I can be a freak every day of every week

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have re-arrived. And I’m booty shakin’ all the way.

EDMONTON was killer! I meant to keep yas updated throughout my 10 day stint, but it seemed every time I got a second my fingers were too pooped to pop. Literally, I was either awake or passing out. So allow me a quick recap:

ME AND MY SIS…
Made friends with a guy named Mike. He gave me fried chicken.
Saw Eclipse! And peed a little. Well, I did.
Kicked the West Ed Mall’s butt, multiple times.
Ran through dangerous and ridiculously windy thunderstorms.
Caught many a bus.
Went fishing at my Britt’s work.
Stalked Followed the ultimate hottie through campus.
Met a few of B’s friends AND LOVED THEM.
Saw Britt’s new place and talked scuba dive-biking with her soon-to-be room mate.
Wore out my sneakers. *GET A CAR
Watched a sea lion show.
Danced our asses off in Funkytown.
Chickened out BIG TIME on riding a roller coaster. (that was just me)
Went to the zoo.
Rolled down a hill in front of people…a few times.
Spent the day at an outdoor pool.
Got a wicked sunburn. *which is now a tan, SCORE.
Ate ice creams bigger than our faces.
Gave Brittany Fraser a hangover from my Black Magic punch.
Bought me a derish birthday cake.
Ate some yummy cheap Italian food and enjoyed (mostly me) a pitcher of strawberry daiquiris.
Drank, ate pizza, played pool, DJ’d and had birthday celebrations with some fantastic people at Britt’s second home: the Garneau Pub.
 Drove 4 hours to Banff.
Shopped for essentials: Banff shot glasses, Banff drink koozies, Banff booze.
Rubbed up together in a hot tub. (Brittany, you naughty thing.)
Took off pants in Banff and ran around with them on my head.
Made friends with the hotel toilet.
Saw the rocky mountains.
Saw the flat fields of the prairies.
Came face to face with a REAL DINOSAUR! Or two. Or three.
Wore a sparkly Canadian flag sticker on my chest.
Played in a fountain.
Enjoyed all the shops of Old Strathcona.
Played Dodge the Funny Drunks/Homeless people while walking home from the bar.
Witnessed the best fire work show the world has ever known.

Great, great time. Thanks B, for letting me sleep on your futon and always taking my shit <3 love love love.

When I got home I was surprised to have TWO pieces of mail waiting for me: thanks Hutchers for the lovely card! and my June Happy Mail buddy Jane Cullen for the AMAZING PACKAGE! (HELLLLLO WOLF PACK BOOKMARK. LOOOOOVE!) And now, back to work. In comparison to vaca, c’est bleak. Dull. Boring. Yesterday, I was complete Zombie-Tyler. Fortunately, I seem to work well when I’m the walking dead. Only a few times did I actually fall asleep, sitting up in my chair pen in hand I might add. (Somebody get me a pair of those glasses with open eyes…I think could pull it off)

Last night I finished getting organized and unpacking, trying to get back into the swing of things asap. TANIGHT I am going for my second helping of Eclipse with Whit. I am oober excited to see it again. I’m probably gonna hit this one up atleast 2 more times in theatres. Tomorrow I’m adventuring with Sir Evan…shenanigans pretty much guaranteed (and his birfday is in two days! Celebrate good times, come on.) I leave you with a plethora of exquisite driving/dancing/shakewhatyourmammagaveyou music aka the B&T Edmonton Soundtrack - Volume 1.
